 As part of the continuous scientific visits of the department’s students, third and fourth year students visited the 10th Iraq International Energy Exhibition and Conference, which is currently being held at the Baghdad International Fairgrounds on 24 and 26/2/2025, accompanied by a number of department members.

The students viewed energy models displayed by the companies at the exhibition, where a brief overview of each model was presented and explained for the students to benefit from it scientifically and practically.

 

Within the cultural mornings, the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division at the Presidency of the University of Technology, organized an awareness seminar entitled: The Impact of Domestic Violence on Mental Health on Sunday, February 16, 2025, in the branch building, in the presence of the Guidance Unit Officer, Dr. Hadeel Fawzy, and fourth-year students

The lecture was given by M.s. Hanin Rashid Majeed from the Psychological Counseling Department/University Presidency, in which she explained the negative effects of violence on mental health, including depression and lack of self-esteem, stressing the need to deal with domestic violence in effective ways such as psychological guidance and providing support. The lecture focused on defining violence, its causes, and knowing its types and various manifestations

In conclusion, the Guidance Unit Officer, on behalf of the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Fadhel Sarhan Kazim, presented a certificate of appreciation to the lecturer for her fruitful and distinguished efforts in making the symposium a success

 

 

The Department of Oil and Gas Engineering / Scientific Affairs and Cultural Relations Division and the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit held an awareness seminar entitled: The Dangers of Drugs... Awareness and Preventionو elivered by lecturers M.s. Zainab Abdul Sattar and M.s Ali Sajit on Monday 2/3/2025 in the branch building, in the presence of the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Fadhel Sarhan Kazim, and a number of lecturers and students.

The symposium aimed to raise awareness in the community about the dangers of drugs and their negative impact on individuals, families and society in general. It included several topics, the most important of which are: types of drugs, reasons for the spread of addiction, its negative health, psychological and social effects, as well as methods of prevention and treatment.

The symposium concluded with recommendations including: activating strict laws to combat drug trafficking and abuse, supporting rehabilitation centers, increasing awareness campaigns, and strengthening the role of the family in monitoring children and protecting them from addiction by calling for community solidarity to combat this dangerous phenomenon and activating the role of family awareness and supervision, in addition to providing effective treatment programs that help addicts recover and reintegrate into society.

 

 

With the aim of scientific integration and believing in the necessity of communication between the institutions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a delegation of students from the Department of Petroleum Engineering/College of Engineering at the University of Karbala, headed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Tahseen Hamid Khalif and Asst. Dr. Maali Salah Asaad, visited the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering/University of Technology on Monday, 2/10/2025, They were received by the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Fadhel Sarhan Kazim, the Scientific Assistant, Prof. Dr. Imad Abdul Hussein Fakher, and a number of lecturers and affiliates.

The students of the University of Karbala made a field tour in the department’s laboratories and learned about the nature of the work of scientific devices. This visit comes within the framework of the ongoing cooperation between the two parties in order to enhance academic programs and achieve educational goals in the service of the scientific process in our beloved country.

 

 

 

Ms. Israa Mahmoud Ali, a lecturer in the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at the University of Technology, participated in the (Sixth International Scientific Conference on Engineering Sciences and Advanced Technologies), which was held at Hillah University College (Babil Governorate) during the period from (January 28 to 29, 2025

The conference addressed the most prominent developments and innovations in the field of (engineering sciences and advanced technologies), and witnessed wide participation from international and local researchers and experts. This attendance is part of the department’s efforts to enhance international academic participation and highlight its research and role in developing the oil and gas sector in Iraq.

 

 

Within the university football championship for faculty members, the Oil and Gas Engineering team played its first match in the first group against the Mechanical Engineering team on Monday 2/17/2025 at the university stadium

The Oil Teaching Team, with the participation of the Scientific Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Imad Abdul Hussein Fakher, achieved a valuable victory over the Mechanics Team, with a score of three goals to one..

Congratulations to the Oil team, and God willing, we will qualify for the final of the tournament.

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, under the supervision of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Khawla Salah Khashan, and under the title: Technology Achievements and Sustainability, the activities of the Graduation Projects Competition Festival for the final stages (fifth edition) for the academic year 2023-2024 were concluded, in the presence of a large number of department heads and university teachers. And the participating students.
The Oil and Gas Engineering Department project ranked fifth among the total departments of the University of Technology.
The name of the participating department’s project is “Study the Inter Facial Tension Alteration for East Baghdad Crude Oil by Using Nano Surfactant Materials” by students Amna Ali Mahmoud, Saja Amer Jaber, and Amir Bashir Karim, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ramzi Sayhoud Hameed.
The students participating in the festival were honored by the University President, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, with certificates of appreciation. All the teachers supervising the projects were also honoured. Congratulations to our department, our dear students, and to the supervisor, Prof. Dr. Ramzi Sayhoud Hameed, for this achievement, and, God willing, more success and excellence.

The Department of Oil and Gas Engineering held a general assembly for faculty members headed by Prof. Dr. Fadel Sarhan Kazem, Head of the Department, Scientific Assistant Prof. Dr. Najm Abdel Kadhim Al-Rubaie, and Head of the Branch, Prof. Imad Abdel Hussein Fakher, and hosted by the Committee of Experts, on Thursday, 9/ 5/2024 and at Akaz Hall.
The body’s meeting included discussing the creation of a new scientific branch in the department, discussing the schedule of final exams for the academic year 2023-2024 in light of the instructions of the Bologna process, and preparing the necessary requirements for the exams, including preparing exam halls, observers, and model questions and answers.

The head of the department, Prof. Dr. Fadel Sarhan Kazem, inspected the final exams/second semester/first round for students for the academic year 2023-2024, which began on Saturday, May 11, 2024.

The department head reviewed the necessary supplies for the students and praised the efforts of the examination committee, teachers, and all associates in creating the appropriate atmosphere for the students.
